Alumni Update: Doyle Somerby

Captain of Boston University

As a 6' 5", 225 pounder, it's tough to miss Doyle Somerby on the ice. He has had a very exciting hockey career to this point, spending the past 4 years with the Boston University Terriers. Doyle remembers some of the long summer weeks staying in what was then the dorm rooms of the Rodman Arena.

Doyle began his high school career in his home town of Marblehead, MA before moving onto a great prep school in New Hampshire--Kimball Union Academy. He thrived for the Wildcats for three years, while captaining the team to a championship his senior season. The 2012-2013 hockey season was an extremely exciting one for the blue liner. Not only did Doyle win a Prep School Championship and get to play in the USHL, but he commited to playing Division 1 college hockey for Boston University. To top that off, he was then drafted in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft, #125 overall, by the New York Islanders.

This past off-season saw Doyle named Captain of the BU Terriers for his senior season. The #5 ranked Terriers are heading in the right direction to head back to the Frozen Four playoffs. RB Hockey School and the entire RB family want to wish Doyle and the Terriers a great rest of the season!
