Alumni Update: Ben Oskroba

Assistant Captain of Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL

Back in 2010, Tempe, AZ native Ben Oskroba packed up and headed to Walpole, MA to join the Walpole Express, playing at a high level in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League, as it was known then. He could also be seen out on the ice at RB Hockey Skills, working with our players every week.

Ben takes a slap shot for the Rivermen.

Ben quickly evolved into the Express’ number one defenseman, putting up 30 points and leading the way for all defenseman on the team. Following a Championship with the Walpole Express, Ben was drafted in the USHL by the Lincoln Stars where he played one season before accepting a Division I scholarship to Northeastern University located back in Massachusetts. After two years with Northeastern, Oskroba shifted to the University of Connecticut, where he would play just shy of one season. At the urging of a few former teammates from Northeastern, as well as friend Taylor Larsen, Oskroba's professional career would begin when he signed his first professional contract with the Peoria Rivermen of the Southern Professional Hockey League, playing alongside now RB Director Taylor Larsen. Four years later, Ben Oskroba is the final player from the inaugural SPHL Riverman team. Oskroba is in his second season as the teams Assistant Captain as he comes off another tough summer of rehab.

The Walpole Express want to wish Ben Oskroba and the Peoria Riverman best of luck in the 2016-2017 season!
